Truth or Dare 2

Who Invented the Truth or Dare Game?

The truth or dare game is one of the oldest games that have been with us since time immemorial. The truth is no one knows who exactly invented the game, but accounts of a variant of the game named “question and commands” often played during Christmas is reported to have been in existence as early as 1712.

In the question and command game, a commander asks a subject who is expected to answer the question. If the subject fails to answer the question satisfactorily or makes no attempt to answer, the subject must perform a command given by the commander, pay a forfeit or have his/her face smutted.

Thus, looking at this game’s nature compared to the truth and dare we have today, one can see some elements of similarities, albeit a few differences. Overall, the truth and dare we play today have obviously undergone series of modifications to take the form it has today.
